Qatari Women got talent

In the recent years Qatari Women started their own trade using their hobbies and talents such as: cooking, styling (cosmetics) and decorating. In the beginning it was just a small business however, when the social media came along it helped so much in advertising. Now we can see a huge number of Qatari Women advertise for their products using facebooktwitterblogs and instgram.

A lot of talents were discovered but unfortunately it couldn’t develop. Because, when those women decided to take their trades to the next level and open their own shops they didn’t receive much help from the government.

Fatima Al Sulaiti the founder of Kaafe and one of the successful Qatari chocolatiers says that it is hard for her to open her own chocolate shop not only because of financial reasons but there are some other obstacles like: building permit, bank loan and municipal license (in case of a chocolate shop) which are very hard to get in Doha. Thus, the government should give more support for Qatari women so they can show us what they got!

Fast food... The fastest way to childhood Obesity!

Children around the world love to have fast food meals such as McDonalds, Hardess, Dairy Queen etc…
Most of fast food restaurants in Doha open for 24 hoursevery day and all of them got home delivery service. Moreover, a lot of families in Qatar depend on fast food delivered to them twice a day (lunch & dinner). Qataris always have fast food delivered to them especially during weekends and holidays. As a result the percentages of obese children in Qatar are already high and will increase more and more.
So here’s what we can do:
·         1-Government should not allow small branches near the neighborhoods open around the clock.
·       2-  Parents must teach their children about how bad fast food is for their health.
·        3- Parents should regulate how many fast food meals their children eat monthly.
·      5-   Government should encourage and multiply the number of fast food restaurant which provide healthy food such as Sub-way.
6-Government should start advertising campaigns supporting vigorous diet for children.

in that fresh air they should have a  fresh meal too!

Qatari girls smoking Shisha

Anyone how live in Qatar knows that it is socially forbidden for a Qatari woman to smoke. However, in the recent years a number of Qatari women began to smoke Shisha in public. Of course women in Qatar are free to do whatever they wish, but it is important to respect their country’s traditions.  Years ago when women wanted to drive, the government sported them and provided everything to make it easy for a Qatari women to drive but smoking is a different issue.

Indeed smoking is harmful for both genders, but when it comes to women it brings up a traditions concern. It may look normal for a western visitor to see women smoke but for an Arabian visitor especially form the Gulf its very disturbing. Because, It is a shame for a Qatari (or from the Gulf) woman to smoke rather than smoking Shish in restaurants and cafés. Moreover, smoking is a deadly habit .Besides; smoking one Shisha is exactly like smoking 100 cigarettes!

The government enacted laws to reduce smoking, yet there is a laxity in applying these laws as required. We still can see people smoke in malls and in closed places such as a restaurant which is very annoying for people sitting near them. Once I went to a Lebanese restaurant in qatara , and a couple smoking Shisha inside the restaurant with their children. So we as citizens should cooperate with our government to eliminate that phenomenon.

Alcohol should be banned

St.Regis

However Qatar is an Islamic country, alcohol is allowed in five star hotels. At least 80% of hotels in Doha serve liquor even in the day time.  If a person wishing to have a drink he/she should first get a license to buy alcohol. But, when I went to one of the hotels which provide alcohol they only asked me to change my Qatari formal(traditional) clothing and come again, so I can get into the bar. They didn't ask for either licenses or age. There is no good reason why a person cannot enter a wine corner wearing traditional outfit. While, there are more serious consequences from consuming alcohol such as, car accidents, family problems and addiction.
An excellent example is Saudi Arabia, which have more five stars hotels than Qatar. Yet they do not serve alcohol in hotels or anywhere else. Moreover, encouraging Qatari traders to open more regional hotels with no alcohol would help to compensate for the loss from banning liquor. For the reason that, tourists didn't come to enjoy drinking. The reason they came is to see Qatar’s people, culture and heritage.

Nevertheless, there are a number of great actions of the government. In 2012 the government bans liquor in some high-end restaurants inthe Pearl. Because, people were complaining about having restaurants with opened bars in public.

Have you ever taste Haluwa?

Haluwa

One of the best places to have delicious traditional meals is in” Souq Waqif”. A lot of tourists who visit Doha like to visit Souq Waqif to have a look at Qatar’s old shops and taste its delicious food, coffee, dessert and pastries. Qatar is famous by a number of tasty dishes such as Makkbus, Haluwa Madruba and Rakkak

Al Ruffa Cafe & Restaurant

In the recent years the Amir offered citizens with low-income shops for free (or reasonable price) to enhance their income. A lot of Qataris opened restaurants and small shops to sell traditional food which increased the number of visitors to Souq Waqif (tourists and Qataris) to have good time at those restaurant and cafes. Also, Qatari elderly started going to the traditional cafes to gather and play traditional games.  So it became a good place for elderly people to spend their time. However, sometimes the weather is too hot tourists are unable to enjoy shopping at souq Waqif so the government should make a suitable solution for that like conditioning the internal passages.
